Meniscus procedures

In the treatment of knee meniscus injuries, we seek to either repair the injury or only remove the damaged part. The meniscus is very important to the knee – for this reason, we always try to save as much of it as possible. The operating surgeon makes the final decision on the scope of the procedure during the operation itself.

After the removal of a damaged part, the patient can put their entire weight on the knee joint, while after a repair/reattachment procedure, weight-bearing is reduced for a period of about six weeks.

Meniscus procedures are usually performed as arthroscopic day surgeries. If necessary, we will make an additional keyhole to verify the attachment.

Sick leave and rehabilitation

The length of the sick leave is 2–6 weeks depending on the nature of the patient’s work. Rehabilitation under the guidance of a physiotherapist is important for ensuring a good outcome.
