HYKSin provides HUS Helsinki University Hospital care for international private patients. Our patients are treated by the university hospital’s top experts. Services are produced by utilising the hospital’s modern facilities and latest technology. Any private patient is welcome to seek care from HYKSin.


We offer appointment services of doctor’s and therapists in numerous specialties. For international patients we offer our first appointment visit with a fixed price. Translation of patient’s medical history (if not in English), if needed, will be charged separately. Further visits and consultations after the first one, if needed, are charged according to the time and/or procedures needed. Please see more information about our prices.


Our patients have access to the comprehensive and high-quality diagnostic services (laboratory, imaging and other) of Helsinki University Hospital. The need for patient’s medical studies is evaluated by the doctor.


A patient or a doctor might want an other medical expert’s opinion on the patient’s diagnosis or treatment options. We offer high quality medical expert second opinions in various medical specialties. Please contact Customer Service for further instructions.


Our surgical care is focused on demanding medical operations. Our surgeons and other specialists are among the best in Europe and pioneers in their specific medical areas. The need for the operation is assessed either during the appointment visit (in HYKSin or elsewhere) or according to a doctor’s referral. Please contact Customer Service for further instructions.


HYKSin doest not provide emergency services privately. All emergency patients are treated in HUS Helsinki University Hospital as part of the public service. Everyone is entitled to emergency treatment within public healthcare regardless of citizenship or country of origin. More information.


We have a fixed price for the international patient’s first Doctor’s Appointment and for Second Opinion services. Further appointment visits, if needed, are charged according to the time and/or procedures needed. For operations we provide a separate fixed priced packages according to individual treatment plan. A patient can choose between the public and private health care in Finland according to the international and EU-legislation. HUS Helsinki University Hospital is a public health care provider and HYKSin is a private health care provider.

Patient from abroad living in Finland
A patient having a permanent residency in Finland can use public health care services as any other resident in Finland.

Patient from EU, EEA or Switzerland
A patient living permanently in a country of European Union or European Economic Area can use public health care services as any other resident in Finland.

Patients from outside EU
Except emergency treatment (see above), treatment will be given in private health care (like in HYKSin) at patient’s own expense or with the insurance company guarantee of payment.

Clear communication between the patient and medical personnel is vital for successful treatment. Our doctors and majority of nursing staff speak fluent English. We arrange an interpreter for patients who require translation services. The services are charged separately. Please see cost of interpretation services from prices.


The patient rooms in Helsinki University Hospital are without exception modern and pleasant for 2-4 persons. Individual accommodation requirements (single rooms) can not be guaranteed but will be considered when possible depending on the occupancy.


We will send patients who need a visa a letter of confirmation for forwarding to the Embassy. You will find further information about applying for a visa on the web pages of the Finnish Embassy in your home country


A travelling insurance is always recommended when travelling abroad. People who are travelling to Finland from countires with Visa need a document of travel insurance for Visa application.
HYKSin cooperates with several insurance companies.


We provide services in more than 20 hospitals, most of which are situated within 5 km from Helsinki centre. In addition some of our hospitals are situated 20-50 km from Helsinki centre, but they are all within good transportation connections. Please see a list of our hospitals.


We have listed accommodation recommendations on our webpages. In general our hospitals are situated within 5-30 km from the city center. In the capital area this means 15-45 min taxi drive depending on the traffic. Hyvinkää Hospital is 50 km and Raasepori Hospital 100 km from the city center.
