Relaxation training involves observing the tension states of the body and mind. It teaches you to recognize tension in the body or situations that cause stress. Part of relaxation training includes practicing breathing and deep breathing to activate the vagus nerve.
Relaxation exercises affect the functioning of the autonomic nervous system. With regular practice, the body learns to relax more easily and quickly. There are many types of relaxation exercises: you can use pre-recorded audio guides or create individualized exercises as needed.
Relaxation training is suitable for everyone
Relaxation training is especially recommended for:
- support therapy for prolonged and chronic pain
- treatment of stress conditions
- sleep problems
- muscle tension
- general tension and anxiety states
Applied relaxation
Applied relaxation is a self-management method that helps prevent and treat stress and burnout, improve sleep quality, and thus relieve fatigue and even pain.
Through applied relaxation, you can learn to know your own body better. The goal is to learn to relax independently, quickly, anytime and anywhere.
How to begin relaxation training?
At Orton, relaxation training is available both individually and in groups. Individual sessions allow the therapist to tailor the practice to your personal needs, for example in breathing guidance. Applied relaxation is taught in groups, which also provides the benefit of peer support.
