They will identify the appropriate person to respond to you and, if necessary, forward your message. In most cases, the best way to resolve matters is to contact the professional who treated you or their supervisor.

Patient Ombudsperson
The duties of the Patient Ombudsperson are defined in the Act on Client and Patient Safety Advocacy (739/2023). The Patient Ombudsperson is impartial and does not participate in treatment decisions or matters related to patient care.
The Patient Ombudsperson can assist you, for example, in the following matters:
- Advising you on issues related to the application of the Act on the Status and Rights of Patients (785/1992)
- Advising and, if necessary, assisting you, your legal representative, a family member, or another close person in submitting a complaint
- Advising on how to initiate a complaint, request for rectification, appeal, claim for damages, or compensation claim related to patient injury or pharmaceutical injury, or any other matter concerning the patient’s legal protection in healthcare with the competent authority
Informing you about your rights as a patient
Patients whose care is organized by HUS are assisted by the HUS Patient Ombudsman: Contact HUS Patient Ombudspersons.
If your visit to Orton took place before April 1, 2026, you may also contact the Patient Ombudsperson of the City of Helsinki if needed.
