The mission of ORTON Foundation is to provide healthcare and rehabilitation services of superior quality and also to organise challenging vocational special education for young persons with disabilities who are at risk of social exclusion.
The names of all ORTON Foundation’s healthcare units contain the name ORTON, which stands for orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation and scientific research. ORTON has become a recognised and respected name in its field.
The Invalid Foundation’s units, ORTON Orthopaedic Hospital, ORTON Rehabilitation, ORTON Research Institute and Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute, form a comprehensive multidisciplinary resource centre. The Invalid Foundation has been operating under the principle of holistic and comprehensive service for over 65 years.
ORTON Orthopaedic Hospital is one of the leading Nordic clinics specialising in orthopaedic surgery. The quality of ORTON Orthopaedic Hospital’s work has also received international acclaim beyond the Nordic countries. ORTON Rehabilitation and Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute have also expanded their activities and become noteworthy national actors in Finland.
Apart from Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute, which receives government subsidies, the activities of the units are mainly funded by market-based provision of services.
University-level scientific research provides support for the development of the quality and methods of healthcare services. ORTON Foundation provides training for specialists and for medical and other healthcare students.
ORTON Foundation adopts new medical technology and systematically develops the quality of its work.
ORTON Foundation is a third sector organisation established for the public benefit. Striving to combine humane services with operational efficacy, it has found its niche in between the public sector and the business world.
